Obituary for Court McDermott

COURT McDERMOTT, 78, of 494 Tamarack Road, Pittsfield, died
Saturday, November 14, at Hillcrest Commons after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born in Great Barrington, February 23, 1931, the son of Ralph and Helen
Williams McDermott, he was a graduate of Searles High School. Mr. McDermott was employed by Lane Construction Company, as a supervisor
from 1967 to 2000
where he worked eight months of the year, then for the rest of the year he would
become the Director of Ski School at Bousquet Ski Area, he started this in 1959 and
retired in 1999. Mr. McDermott was awarded life membership status in two countries one with the
Professional Ski Instructors of America and the other with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.
He was just as passionate about canoeing.
He held national titles and championships in singles, doubles, white water, and flat
water canoeing from 1979 to 2002.
Mr. McDermott is survived by a son, Steven N. McDermott and his wife, Nina, of
Pittsfield; a daughter, Deborah J. McDermott of Lenox; a sister, Alma "Sis" Kershner
and her husband, Dan, of Falling Waters, West Virginia; and five grandchildren, Trevor
Burnham, Samantha Burnham, Abigail McDermott, Paige DiGrigoli, and Brady
DiGrigoli, as well as his former wife, Suzanne Stevens McDermott of Lenox.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for COURT McDERMOTT, who died Saturday, November 14, will be Thursday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. Hannah P. Anderson, Rector, officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 18, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. McDermott may be made to the
Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
