Obituary for Constance Ann Borkowski Rivers

Constance Ann Borkowski Rivers, 95 formerly of 65 Columbus Avenue, Pittsfield died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. She has resided at Hillcrest Commons since January 13, 2014.
Born on May 30, 1919 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Teofila Konarzewski Borkowski. She attended schools in Pittsfield. A homemaker at onetime she had worked in the woolen mills of Pittsfield and the former Elmvale Worsted Company.
She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church and now a communicant of Saint Joseph's Church. She enjoyed line dancing, bingo, playing cards and puzzles. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and had cooked at the Polish Community Club for many years. She was a member of the Ralph Froio Senior Center where she ran Bingo for many years. She was the wife of Bernard W. Rivers whom she married November 25, 1938 at Holy Family Church; he died June 23, 1977.
She leaves four daughters, Patricia A. Rivers of Yarmouth, Ma. Bernadette J. Greenleaf of Beverly Hills, Florida, Carol A. Ferris of Pittsfield, Ma. and Constance D. Marchand and her husband Donald of Lee, Ma. Three sons, Bernard S. Rivers of Lanesboro, Ma. Robert J. Rivers and his wife Gail of North Egremont, Ma. and Dana J. Rivers and his wife Gail of Peru, Ma.
17 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Borkowski and seven sisters, Lillian Gordon, Jinina Stockley, Mary Klimek, Agnes Christopher, Ella O'Brien, Sophie Duda and Stella Spence also by her special companion Carmen Columbari.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials in her memory be made to the Ralph Froio Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
