Obituary for Charlotte May Peel

Charlotte May Peel, 91, of 53 Sunset Street, Pittsfield, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her home.
Born in Pittsfield on April 3, 1921, the daughter of Walter and Madeline Hover
Wigglesworth, she was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mrs. Peel had been a waitress at The Meadows in Lanesborough, the West Shore
Club in Lansborough, which her father owned and operated, and at the Rainbow
Restaurant in Pittsfield. She retired in the 1980s after thirty years.
She was a communicant of St. Charles Church.
She was an avid Red Sox fan who also enjoyed horse racing, bingo, playing cards, and going to Foxwoods, as well as traveling.
Her first husband, Francis W. Burke, whom she married in 1938, died in 1973. Her second husband, Herbert H. Peel, whom she married in 1981, died December 9, 1996.
Mrs. Peel is survived by a daughter, Sheila J. Murphy, and her husband, Bernard,
of Pittsfield, and a son, Edward F. Burke and his wife, Patricia, of Ocala, Florida; several
stepchildren; three brothers, Russell Wigglesworth, Melvin Wigglesworth, and Arthur Wigglesworth, all of Pittsfield; fourteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by a son, John M. Burke; a grandson, Jack Burke, and a brother, Wallace Wigglesworth.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Charlotte May Peel will be held Tuesday, December 4, at
9:00 from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at
St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St.
Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Peel may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
