Obituary for Charles R. ""Red Dog" " Spitzer
Charles R. Spitzer “Red Dog”, 82, of Pittsfield, passed away January 8, 2022 at Hillcrest Commons, where he resided for the past year.
Born in Westfield, MA on March 24, 1939, he was educated in Chester, MA schools.
He married the former Donna Ruth Ryder on June 7, 1968. She predeceased him on May 5, 2004.
Mr. Spitzer was a truck driver for many years. Most recently he was employed by Gordon’s Tree Service for 6 years. He previously was employed by Lashaway Lumber and also was a trailer truck driver for Gillette Carnival.
He enjoyed country fairs, horses, but most importantly, his family.
He is survived by his five children, Patricia “Trish” Moser and husband Steve of Albemarle, NC, Tina Spitzer of Pittsfield, Tammy Goodno and husband Richard of Pittsfield, Charles “Chuckie” Spitzer, Jr., of Pittsfield, and Brenda Lee Cook.
Several grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Two brothers, Rudy Pfeiler and John Pfeiler.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Carl, Sonny and Walter Spitzer and a sisters Nancy maycomber and Marie Richards.
Due to the uptick in Covid, there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA is handling the arrangements.
