Obituary for Charles W. "Chuck" Jones

Charles W. Jones "Chuck", 83, of 916 South St., died Monday January 4, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pittsfield, on July 22, 1932, son of Raymond and Valeria Krajza Jones, he attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School, and a 1954 graduate of the GE Apprentice Program.
Chuck was a manager in the ordinance systems department at General Electric for 38 years until his retirement in 1988.
Chuck was very active in the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Lenox Sportsman's Club. He had served on the Board of Directors for many years and was instrumental in starting a Youth Rifle League where young men and women learned Olympic style shooting. He coached the first competitive woman's pistol team in Berkshire County, known as the "Hot Shots", since the teams inception ten years ago. He was awarded the "Silvio O. Conte Sportsman of the Year" award in 2004 by the Lenox Sportsman's Club.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, mountain climbing and cross-country skiing. He and his wife Evelyn successfully hiked 24 national parks in 19 different states.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, the former Evelyn T. Lombardi, whom he married January 1, 1982. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter Teresa A. Kardasen (Brian) of Hinsdale; Charles W. Jones, Jr. (Ok Hui) of San Antonio, TX ; Susan M. Kerr of Adams; Daniel S. Jones of Knoxville, TN; Charles' grandson Brady M. Kerr of Pittsfield; Eugene L. Daley (Jacques) of South Shores, FL; Sharon M. Daley her son Evan Richard of Pittsfield; a brother Raymond W. Jones, Jr. (Beverly) of Dalton, MA; his sisters; Alice Bixby (Alan) of New Orleans, LA; and Barbara Bradley of Agawam.
He was predeceased by his grandson Joshua Kardasen.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
At the families request there are no calling hours or services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Chuck's memory may be made to the Youth Rifle League/Lenox Sportsman's Club in care of the Dery Funeral Home 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield which is handling arrangements.
