Obituary for Charles G. Hatch Jr.

CHARLES G. HATCH, JR., 88, of 5555 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tennessee, a former resident of Pittsfield, died Thursday, August 30, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After leaving Pittsfield in 1983, he moved to Bradenton, Florida, where he lived until moving to Tennessee in 1991.
Born in Pittsfield, June 7, 1919, a son of Charles G. Hatch, Sr., and Mable Anthony Hatch, he was educated in Pittsfield and was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and the Philippines. Mr. Hatch was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many
years, retiring in 1979 as assistant manager of its Pittsfield office. During the 1940s, he
worked for General Electric Company in capacitors. Following his retirement, Mr. Hatch
worked at the former Pittsfield Supply, and for Sears, Roebuck, and Company in
Allendale and later at Sears, Roebuck, and Company in Bradenton. After relocating to
Tennessee, he worked at Wynn-Dixie supermarket in Chattanooga. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Hixson, Tennessee.
While in The Berkshires, he was a former worshipful master of Masonic Lodge AF &
AM in West Stockbridge. He enjoyed gardening, golf, working around his house, and
was an avid sports fan who was devoted to the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves.
His wife, the former Rita L. Bordeleau, whom he married November 7, 1940,
in Notre Dame Church, died July 8, 1999.
Mr. Hatch is survived by a son, Ronald C. Hatch of Wilmington, North Carolina;
two daughters, Carole A. Miller of Lanesborough and Jacquelyn L. Malczewski of
Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; a sister, Frances M. Schneyer of Glendale; four grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for CHARLES G. HATCH, JR., who died Thursday, August
30, will be held Thursday, September 13, at 1:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME,
with Rev. Mr. Pasquale Baldasaro, Deacon of St. Agnes Church, officiating. Burial
will follow in Richmond Center Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service
beginning at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Hatch
may be made to St. Alban's Episcopal Church in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford
Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. Hatch leaves his four grandchildren, Jo-Anne E. Burgess, Joyce E. Miller,
Nicole R. Longevin-Burroughs, and Natalie A. Hatch; his three great grandchildren,
Justin Fox, and twins Alyssa and Jacob Burgess. He also leaves his sons-in-law, George
E. Miller and Thomas Malczewski; several nieces and nephews, and dear friend, Florence
"Izzy" Wall of East Ridge, Tennessee. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Robert S.
Hatch, late of Great Barrington.
