Obituary for Charles L. Hanley

CHARLES LEROY HANLEY, 76, of 350 Blackbrook Road, Sanbornton,New Hampshire, died Wednesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield,
Massachusetts. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, January 12, 1930, he was the son of Leroy
Charles and Yvette Connie Gelinas Hanley, he was a graduate of Holyoke High School
and of the Metals Engineering Institute of Metals Park, Ohio.
He served in the United States Air Force between 1950-1954.Mr. Hanley had been employed as a Quality Assurance Manager by Space-Craft
Manufacturing in New Haven, Connecticut, where he worked for 20 years. Prior to that,
he was employed by Pratt-Whitney aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut for 23 years.
He retired in 1992.
He was a former member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and was a
NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and spending time with his grandson.
Mr. Hanley was pre-deceased by his wife, the former, Elizabeth A. Walles,who died June 10, 1993.He is survived by a son, Richard C. Hanley and his wife, Dr. Lucille Semeraro
Hanley of Durham, Connecticut, and grandson, Douglas; a sister, Shirley H. Conklin, of
Peoria, Arizona; and his beloved friend and companion, Mary A. Hubbard of
Lanesborough, Massachusetts and Stuart Florida. He was pre-deceased by his sister,
Beverly A. Herman, late of Palm Harbor, Florida.

Funeral Notice: A memorial service for Mr. Hanley will be held Saturday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m., at Notre Dame Church (http://www.notredamechurch.info/) in Durham,Connecticut.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 21, at 1:00 p.m., at Maple Grove
Cemetery in Canterbury, New Hampshire, with Rev. Keta Jones, Interim Pastor of
Boscawen (New Hampshire) Congregational Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Hanley may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society (www.LLS.org) .
