Obituary for Charles R. Burgess

Charles R. "Chuck" Burgess, 50, of 11 Richmond Avenue, Pittsfield, Ma. Died Saturday evening at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Ma. After suffering an apparent heart attack while playing the drums in his band Hot Totti at Liston's in Worthington, Ma.
Born on April 14, 1957 in Greenfield, Ma. A son of the late Robert D. and Marjorie Surnier Burgess. He attended schools in Dalton and was a 1975 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1976 until being honorably discharged in 1980 as a sergeant. Since May of this year he had been employed for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation as a grounds maintenance man. Prior to that, he had been employed for Time Warner Cable as a prevention maintenance service technician for 24 years. He was a drummer for many bands including, Off Hour Rockers, No Big Heads, Wildlife and Burnt Bacon and the Home Fries. He enjoyed bicycling, reading and drumming.
He leaves a daughter, Kacey L. Burgess and a son Kevin A. Burgess both of Pittsfield, Ma. A sister, Cheryl Walden of Dalton, Ma. Two brothers, Paul S. Burgess of Lanesboro, Ma. and Scott Burgess of Lee, Ma. Also survived by his former wife Kathy Begin Burgess of Pittsfield, Ma. He was predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey A. Burgess who died June 27, 1994.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Charles R. "Chuck" Burgess who died August 4, 2007 will be held Friday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St. Dalton, Ma. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials in his memory be made to the Berkshire Music School in care of the funeral home. Chuck was predeceased by a brother, Jeffery A. Burgess who died June 27, 1994.
