Obituary for Cecelia B. McDermott

Cecelia Barbara McDermott, age 86, of Rose Manor Apartments, Pittsfield, died Monday October 29, 2012, at home. She was born on March 24, 1926 in Waterville, Maine, the daughter of Alphonse and Mary Duby Rancourt. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was Valedictorian of the St. Joseph High School Class of 1944.
Mrs. McDermott had worked in the payroll department at the former Wyandott Worsted Mill in Pittsfield after high school for 10 to 15 years. In 1960, Cecelia began working as a secretary for Bland Electric Company and retired in 1992. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, gardening, cross-word puzzles, shopping, and especially planning holidays with her family.
Mrs. McDermott is survived by her daughter: Nancy A. Kennedy of Lee; her three sons: David F. McDermott and his wife Marsha of Pittsfield, R. Brian McDermott and his wife Deborah of Pittsfield, and Stephen M. McDermott and his wife Julie of Seymour, CT; her son-in-law: Francis Burke of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her former husband: Robert McDermott in 1981, her daughter: JoAnn Burke in 2009; her grandson: Robert Kennedy; and her two sisters: Regina Marquis and Viola Rancourt.

FUNERAL NOTICE: At her request, there will be no funeral services for Cecelia B. McDermott. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
