Obituary for Catherine L. Scaccia

Catherine L. Scaccia, 88, of 8 Vinal Ave., died Sunday January 3, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Care Center, in Lenox.
Born in Scranton, Pa., on September 4, 1927, daughter of Julius and Jeannie Cavezza Zinicola, she attended schools in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School.
Catherine's career in retail sales included many stops along the way, including K-Mart, Wilsons Garden Center, Grand Union Supermarket and Miller Supply. She retired in 1988.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, watching NASCAR, spending time with her family and friends and telling and sharing stories. She was actively involved in the Lady's Guild at the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Catholic Charities and the church prayer line.
She leaves her two sons; Liborio Scaccia of Pittsfield and Julius Scaccia of Clifton Park, N.Y., three daughters; Jennie Robitaille and her husband James, Marcella Castagna and her husband Thomas and Gina Barrett and her husband James, all of Pittsfield, her grandchildren; Allen Scaccia and his wife Danielle, Catherine Scaccia and her boyfriend Jamal, Matthew Scaccia and his girlfriend Samantha, Timothy Koenig and his wife Amy and their children Camden, Grayson and Halle, Jeffrey Koeing and his daughter Dionna, Alicia Swigart and her husband Jonathan, Anthony Castagna, and Franklin and Jean Barrett.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Albert C. Scaccia, her daughter Anna Scaccia who passed away in 1991 and a brother John Zinicola.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral Services for Catherine L. Scaccia who died Sunday, January 3, 2016, will take place on Thursday, from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Marks Church by the Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Catherine's memory may be made to St. Marks Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
