Obituary for Casimer Wiater Jr.

CASIMER 'SONNY / JAKE" JACOB WIATER, JR., 62, of 220 East Windsor Road, Peru, died Sunday at his home where he resided with his caregivers, Elaine
Wormwood, her late husband, Kenneth Wormwood, and their family. He was a
former long-time resident of Cheshire where he had lived with his parents.
Born in Adams, June 23, 1943, the son of Casimer J. Wiater, Sr., and Pauline T. Labanowski Wiater, he was educated in Adams and Cheshire schools.
Mr. Wiater did janitorial and custodial work throughout his life. He had worked
as a custodian at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Pittsfield and at the ITAM Lodge as a
member of the BCARC A.E.N. Team. For many years, he helped out at Lamb's Garage in Cheshire. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. He
enjoyed taking special-needs woodworking courses with his mother in North Adams. He
was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed golfing, walking, fishing, and clamming on
Cape Cod, and he also enjoyed bowling. He had a great interest in cars, was an avid car
buff, and enjoyed traveling. He always wanted to be a truck driver.Mr. Wiater is survived by two brothers, Paul N. Wiater of Chicopee Falls,
Massachusetts, and Stephen D. Wiater of Pittsfield; and his sister and legal guardian,
Janice W. Hartwell of Hooksett, New Hampshire.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for CASIMER JACOB WIATER, who died Sunday, June
18, will be held Thursday, June 22, at 9:l5 a.m. from the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL
HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption
Church celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire
Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral
Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Wiater may be made to
BCARC in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.Mr. Wiater leaves two sisters-in-law, Katie Wiater and Susan Wiater, his
nieces and nephews, Douglas Hartwell, Kimberly Hartwell, Kelly Wiater, and
Erin Wiater, and his caregivers, Elaine Wormwood and her entire family, with whom
He resided. He was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law, Allan Hartwell who died
September 10, 2003, and caregiver, Kenneth Wormwood.
