Obituary for C. Ann Benham

C. Ann Benham, 95, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away at Kimball Farms Nursing Home in Lenox on February 13, 2022.
Born in Freemont, Nebraska on July 31, 1926, she was the daughter of Franklin and Mae Alexander Hollenbeck.
Ann met her husband to be, Seaman Paul L. Benham, while working in the Bremerton, WA Naval Shipyard during World War II. They were married on June 2, 1946. Paul predeceased her on October 18, 1994.
Ann was educated in local schools in Forsythe, MT and attended Montana State College. She was employed as a secretary for General Electric in the Power Transformer Department, at First Aggie Bank in the Collections Department and as a secretary at Catholic Central Middle School.
Ann took pride in the beautiful and immaculately kept flower gardens circling her yard and was a skilled cross-stitcher who crafted specifically self-designed Christmas stockings for family members.
She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and New York Giants. Ann enjoyed working on puzzle books, attending her grandchildren’s’ sports/school events and hosting, and later attending, family holiday dinners/parties.
Mrs. Benham was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hagmaier and husband David of Lakeville, MA; two sons, Christopher Benham and wife Karen of Pittsfield and Mark Benham and wife Pamela of New Market, NH, Daughter-in-law, Sheila Coughlin and husband Peter of Pittsfield, Son-in-law Richard Scialabba of Hinsdale, Sister-in-laws Anna Benham and Rosalyn “Cookie” Benham, Brother-in-law Tiny Zink, twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Barry Benham, daughter Laurel A. Scialabba and grandsons, Jared Benham and Adam St. Jean.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
