Obituary for Bruno J. Montini

Bruno Joseph Montini, 84, of Lanesborough, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on May 20, 1930, the son of Costante and Palmira Biasin Montini, he
was raised in the Lakewood section of Pittsfield, attended Pittsfield schools, and was a 1948
graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Montini was employed by General Electric Company where he was a manager in the
Distribution Transformer Department for 31 years. Subsequent to that, he worked for Philips
Medical Systems in Shelton, Conn., as a project engineer for 16 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a communicant of All Souls Church.
He was a member and a Past President of the Italian-American Club.
He was a member of the Skyline Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He also enjoyed traveling the United States and building jigsaw puzzles.
Mr. Montini leaves his wife, the former Vivian M. Traversa, whom he married April 25,
1953, in All Souls Church.
He is also survived by a son: Ronald L. Montini and his wife Karen, of Lanesborough;
two daughters: Melissa A. LaRocque of Bedford, New Hampshire, and Karen S. Balardini and her
husband James of Hinsdale; a brother: Louis Montini of Pittsfield; his brother-in-law: Robert Traversa and his wife Mary; and seven grandchildren: Brendan LaRocque and his wife,
Jessica, Ryan LaRocque, and Meredith LaRocque, all of New Hampshire; Nicholas Murdock of
Charlotte, N.C., and Andrew Murdock of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Matthew Montini and his
fiancée, Jessica Carty, and Kathryn Montini, all of Lanesborough; as well as nieces and nephews
in Pittsfield and in Lee; and cousins in Lee.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Julio "Jelly" Montini.





FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Bruno Joseph Montini will be held Wednesday, June 11, at 10:00
AM, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A.
Shershanovich, Pastor. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at
St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in
Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Joseph's Food Pantry or St Jude's
Children's Research Hospital in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
