Obituary for Beverly J. Newbery
Beverly Joanne Newbery, 86 of Pittsfield, passed away October 17, 2022 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born June 30th, 1936, she was the oldest daughter of George and Helen Culverwell of Dalton. She graduated from the former Dalton high school in 1954, and Beverly married Raymond J. Newbery, Jr., on November 24,1962.
Beverly was a telephone operator and supervisor for New England Telephone until the birth of her children.
A stay at home mom, she volunteered at the Williams School library and taught CCD at Sacred Heart parish in her younger years. Beverly loved ceramics, crossword puzzles and reading, and she and Ray followed their beloved Red Sox together.
A woman of great faith, Beverly was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and for many years, you could find her stationed at the Berkshire Mall during the Christmas season.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Raymond who passed away in June.
Left to mourn are her four children; Robert Newbery of Pittsfield MA, Mary Newbery of East Haven CT, Nancy Patterson of Pittsfield and James Newbery of Pittsfield and her sister, Sr. Joyce Culverwell SSJ of Holyoke MA. She also leaves 5 grandchildren whom she adored; Danielle Newbery, Kaylea Patterson, Stephanie Paterson, Erica Newbery and Devin Newbery, as well as two great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the staff at Mt. Greylock Nursing Home for their wonderful care over the years.
Funeral services will be private, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility Activities Fund in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
