Obituary for Beverly A. Cummings

Beverly A. Cummings, 81, of Melbourne Place, Pittsfield, formerly of Baldwinsville NY, passed on at home May 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born October 23, 1934 in Newburgh, NY she was a daughter of the late William and Theresa Kretz Stewart. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh NY, and a 1956 graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland.
She was predeceased in 2005 by her husband of 48 years, Richard M. Cummings. They raised their family in Liverpool, NY and moved to Baldwinsville, NY in 1982. Bev was a founding partner of William Alan Real Estate in Liverpool and later moved to Gallinger Real Estate, capping a career of more than 40 years as a licensed real estate broker, mentor, appraiser and investor.
A competitive athlete from a young age, Bev enjoyed many sports during her life including speed skating, swimming and diving, skiing, fishing and any activity in the great outdoors, including mowing the lawn, fast! She loved travel and was always excited to explore new places. Most importantly, she cherished her role as Mom and Grammy.
Bev was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville, NY, and later, a communicant of Pittsfield's St. Mark's Church.
She leaves two daughters, Catherine L. Robbins and her husband Edward of Wilbraham, MA and Jennifer L. Cummings and her partner Phyllis R. Nechemias of Stephentown, NY; A son, Robert S. Cummings and his wife Donna of Cicero, NY; Two sisters, Mary Lu Miraglia of West Hurley, NY and Nancy Argenio of Beacon, NY; Five grandchildren, Mark Robbins, Stephanie Robbins, Mackenzie Cummings, Benjamin Cummings and Marcy Nechemias and two great grandchildren, William and Nicholas Falk. She also leaves twelve nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, the late William Stewart.
We will miss her loving smile, quick wit and unbridled enthusiasm. Hers was a life well lived.





FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Beverly A. Cummings who died May 7, 2016 will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark's Church, 400 West St., Pittsfield, MA celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Father Leonard Hall at St. Mark's Church prior to the service. Memorial donations in memory of Beverly may be made to the Melbourne Place Sunshine Fund for Staff Enrichment in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling arrangements.
