Obituary for Beulah Virginia "Ginny" Fenton (Parson)

Beulah Virginia “Ginny” (Parsons) Fenton, 101, died Saturday January 14, 2023, at Bay Lake Retirement & Assisted Living Community in Virginia Beach, VA. Ginny was born in Norfolk, VA on October 11, 1921 to Oliver Jerome Parsons and Elsie May Merryman. She was a graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. Ginny married SK1 Irving Ensign Fenton on April 22, 1945, in Warwick, RI, prior to his deployment to the Pacific Theater in WWII. After the war, they resided in Brooklyn, NY, for a year and then returned to Pittsfield, MA, where they lived until retirement. She worked as the Secretary-Bookkeeper for Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield for 30 years. After retirement, she and Irv relocated to Melbourne, FL and later to Satsuma, FL. After the death of her husband she relocated to Virginia Beach, VA, to be near family.

She was always “doing” and always hummed while she was working. She and Irv loved to travel and always seemed to come home with new long-lasting friends. She was a gracious hostess, particularly in the summer at the summer cabin in Becket, MA, where space was limited, but always room for one more.

She was a beloved mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, honorary aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She quickly became immersed in every new community in which she found herself.

She is survived by her two sons, Sidney Craig Fenton and wife, Diane of Virginia Beach, VA and Richard Scott Fenton and wife, Jill, of South Dennis, MA; grandchildren, Kelly Fenton, Sabrina Brannan, Kimberly Crowe, and Matthew Fenton, six great grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Irv, her parents, her five sisters, Hazel, Lee, Mary, Dorothy, Ruth, and brother Oliver.

A memorial service is tentatively planned in April 2023, in Pittsfield, MA. Internment of remains will be at Pittsfield Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), in memory of Virginia Fenton and are preferred to flowers. Arrangements are by H D Oliver, Virginia Beach, VA, (www.hdoliver.com) and Dery Funeral home, Pittsfield, MA (www.deryfuneralhome.com)
