Obituary for Betty Jean Messer

Betty Jean Messer, 77, of 14 Daniels Ave., Pittsfield passed away on June 17, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 27, 1939 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Martha Snow Sumner.
Betty Jean was employed at the former JJ Newberry Department Store.
Betty Jean enjoyed arts and crafts, collecting Norman Rockwell paintings and memorabilia, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty Jean was a very caring, giving and loving mother.
She is survived by her three sons; Edward D. Messer and his wife Gail of Pittsfield, Raymond Messer and Frank Messer, both of Pittsfield, her four daughters; Betty Ann Messer of FL, Georgia Papay of SC, Marth Messer and her husband Kiki of FL and Betty Jean Burt and her husband Shawn of Pittsfield, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, three sisters; Leta Winters, Eleanor Reynolds and Evelyn Andrews all of Pittsfield, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Davida Turner.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Betty Jean Messer of Pittsfield who died June 17, 2016 will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty Jean's memory can be to DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
