Obituary for Bertha Sophie Koscher

Bertha Sophie Koscher, 89, of 202 Allengate Avenue, Pittsfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility surrounded by her family.
Born in Pittsfield on September 18, 1926, the daughter of Stefan and Stefania Filipkowski Zuorski,
she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Primarily a homemaker, she had worked for General Electric Company in the Drafting
Department where she was a tracer. In later years, Mrs. Koscher was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools where she was a baker for their cafeterias.
Mrs. Koscher was a communicant of St. Mark Church and had been a communicant of
the former St. Mary the Morning Star Church.
She enjoyed knitting and sewing. Her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling
to visit family brought her greatest joy.
Mrs. Koscher leaves her husband of 65 years, Richard E. Koscher, whom she married June 24, 1950, in Holy Family Church.
She is also survived by her children, Michelle A. Rousseau and her husband, Peter, of
Pittsfield, and their sons, Adam and Joel: Richard E. Koscher, Jr. and his wife Lynn, of Elgin,
Ill., and their children, Justin and Cara; Charles S. Koscher and his wife, Kathleen, of Lenox,
and their son, Eric; Jon P. Koscher and his wife, Mary Pat, of Belair, Md., and their children,
Kristin and Patrick; and Jacqueline A. Meskinis and her husband, Phil, of East Bridgewater,
Mass., and their son, Joshua.
Mrs. Koscher was pre-deceased by three sisters, Irene Yannone, Henrietta Bienick, and
baby sister, Sophie Zuorski, and by five brothers, Walter Zuorski, Clarence Zuorski, Raymond
Zuorski, Chester Zuorski, and Edmond Zuorski.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Bertha S. Koscher will be Friday, October 2, at 9:00 a.m., from DERY
FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark Church celebrated by Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or to Mount Greylock Extended Care Activities Fund both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
