Obituary for Bernard M. "Bunny" Kelley

Bernard Mark "Bunny" Kelley, 83, of Pittsfield, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Craneville Place of Dalton.
Born in Pittsfield on June 30, 1930, the son of Charles C. and Mary R. O'Neill Kelley, he was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School where he played football. He was a 1957 graduate of
Williams College where he earned a bachelor's degree in English; he played football there, as well. Continuing his education, he graduated from North Adams State Teachers College in 1963 with a master's degree in education.
He was a United States Army veteran during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Kelley was a self-employed carpenter and landscaper for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Mr. Kelley had been a member of the Pittsfield Shade Tree Commission. He was a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lenox.
He enjoyed history, traveling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles, as well as gardening.
Mr. Kelley leaves his wife, the former Veronica J. Koziol, whom he married April 15, 1961, in Holy Family Church.
He is also survived by two daughters, Julianne Powers and her husband, Michael, of Melrose,
and Caroline M. Kelley and East Dorset, Vermont; a brother, Frederick T. Kelley and his wife, Nadine,
of Bethany Beach, Delaware; a sister, Marion R. Brower of Warsaw, Kentucky; and many nieces and
nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by four brothers, Daniel, Charles, John, and Gerald, and a sister, Eleanor
Klimetz.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Bernard M. Kelley will be held Wednesday, April 2, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY
FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial
Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Central High School in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford
Street, Pittsfield.
