Obituary for Benedicta P. Ciskowski

BENEDICTA PEVOSKI CISKOWSKI, 92, of 781 South State Road, Cheshire, a long-time resident of Cheshire, died Monday, February 23, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams, October 11, 1916, a daughter of Andrew and Anna Obara Pevoski, she was educated in North Adams schools and was a 1935 graduate of the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams.
Following high school, Mrs. Ciskowski went to work for J.J. Newberry in North
Adams where she worked until 1950. In 1967, when the Country Charm Restaurant
opened for business she went to work there as a waitress for 16 years until retiring in
1981. Mrs. Ciskowski was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and
a member of the Cheshire Seniors Club. She enjoyed gardening, growing and canning
tomatoes, baking and crocheting, and candlepin bowling. Her husband, Machislaw J. Ciskowski, whom she married April 19, 1947, at St.
Francis Church in North Adams, died December 23, 1969. Mrs. Ciskowski is survived by two sons, James M. Ciskowski and his wife, Alice
B. Ciskowski, of Aberdeen, New Jersey, and Robert S. Ciskowski and his wife, Paula J.
Ciskowski of Cheshire; two grandchildren, Michael J. Ciskowski and Julie A. Ciskowski;
and many nieces and nephews, including Christine Ciskowski and her son, Alexander,
and Paul Pitroff, who were faithful visitors.
She was pre-deceased by five brothers, Frank Pevoski, Stanley "Dick" Pevoski,
Adam Pevoski, Joseph Pevoski, and Leo Pevoski, and two sisters, Victoria Pitroff and
Cecelia Lecuyer.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for BENEDICTA PEVOSKI CISKOWSKI, who died Monday,
February 23, will be Thursday, February 26, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY-CHESHIRE
FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. Mary of the
Assumption Church celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will be in the
Spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to
7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs.
Ciskowski may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to the Cheshire
Volunteer Fire Department both in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
