Obituary for Barbara G. Kornn

On January 22, our mom went to Heaven. While a resident at Springside Nursing Home, Mom developed the COVID-19 virus which sadly claimed her life.

Barbara G. Kornn, 89, born in Pittsfield on September 23, 1931, the daughter of William and Dorothy Fish Turner, was a 1950 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Kornn, at one time was employed by Eaton Paper Company, and had been an Avon lady.

Mrs. Kornn was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield where she was a Sunday School Teacher & started the Mitten Tree at Christmas time.

A woman who truly loved to volunteer, Barbara was a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center where she helped prepare the monthly edition of the "Senior Spirit" for mailing & distribution for many years.
She was also a member of RSVP.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara’s grandchildren didn’t go to regular day care; they went and spent the day with their Maymay (Gam). She would take them on her Avon route and would become friends with all the dogs in the neighborhood. They also rode the bus and went up to North Street, the Senior Center, and the Mall and to one of their favorite lunch spots the Friendly’s.

She was also an avid Red Sox fan. In their day, she and her husband Bob took many Dufour bus tours visiting places they might not have otherwise seen and making many new friends along the way.

Her husband, Robert H. Kornn, whom she married in First United Methodist Church on September 27, 1952, died January 11, 2017.

Mrs. Kornn is survived by two daughters, Linda E. Horomanski and Susan L. Koldys both of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, Stacy Horomanski and Joseph Koldys; and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a daughter, JoAnn E. Kornn, who died April 10, 1972, a brother, William Turner, II., and a sister, Carolyn Turner.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Barbara G. Kornn because of the Covid 19 Virus will be private with burial to be in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
