Obituary for Barbara Prince Hollworth

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Prince Hollworth (1937-2023), a beloved wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother formerly from Peekskill, New York and Tyringham, Massachusetts. She departed on December 21, 2023. She was a beacon of kindness and gentleness, whose warmth and love radiated to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A voracious reader, she found joy and solace in the pages of countless books. The beach also held a special place in her heart where she met her husband of 52 years, Alfred Hollworth (1935-2012). She passed her joy of swimming and the ocean on to her loving children and grandchildren.

Her quiet and reserved nature was a testament to her strength, her calm demeanor a comforting presence in the lives of her loved ones. Despite her reserved nature, she was happiest when helping others, her selfless acts of kindness a testament to her generous spirit. Her infectious smile and laughter were a source of joy, lighting up any room she entered and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her loving children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Dawn Hollworth and her husband, Larry Halperin, her son Richard Hollworth and his wife, Gretchen Wright Hollworth and her grandchildren Sarah and Sondra Halperin and Dylan and Nathan Hollworth whom she adored and was proud of their many accomplishments. Barbara is also survived by her younger sister Gail Anselmo. We celebrate her life—a life well-lived, marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her memory by performing an act of kindness, as she so often did. Her spirit lives on in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the joy she brought to those around her. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may her memory continue to inspire us all.
