Obituary for Barbara J. Donovan

BARBARA JUNE DONOVAN, 65, of 84 Marlboro Drive, Pittsfield, died
Sunday, January 11, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, June 8, 1943, a daughter of Wells and Ida M. Tassinari
Kapinos, she was a 1961 graduate of Searles High School and a 1964 graduate of the
St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.
A registered nurse by profession, Mrs. Donovan worked from 1964 to 1972 in
Boston area hospitals including St. Elizabeth's, and the Brook's Hospital Division of
Lahey Clinic where she was supervisor and director of in-service education.
After moving to Pittsfield in 1983, she was later employed by Lenox Public Schools as an on-call nurse and did private duty nursing, as well.
In 2004, she underwent a kidney transplant.
Mrs. Donovan was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where she was a former member of the Rosary Sodality and the Adult Choir.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She leaves her husband, James E. Donovan, whom she married September 26, 1970, in Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, David M. Donovan of
Jupiter, Florida, and Matthew J. Donovan of Jupiter Florida and Pittsfield; and a sister,
Margaret R. Demetre of Lexington, Massachusetts; and her beloved, Shelty, Mindy.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for BARBARA JUNE DONOVAN, who died Sunday, January
11, will be Thursday, January 15, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev.
James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Donovan may be made to Sacred Heart Church or to the Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
