Obituary for Avis H. Perrea

Pittsfield: Avis H. Perrea, 95, of 92 Plunkett Street passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Springside of Pittsfield where she had resided since November of 2014. Born on November 12, 1921 in Adams, she was the daughter of the late Adelbert and Mabel Payette Smith. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Adams schools. A homemaker, she had worked at one time at the former Berkshire Mill in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church and of the former St. Mary's Church in Pittsfield. She enjoyed comedies, cooking, and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She leaves her husband; Oliver J. Perrea of Pittsfield whom she married on October 1, 1949 at St. Thomas Church in Adams. Two sons; Thomas H. Perrea and his wife Marie of Pittsfield and Michael J. Perrea of Pittsfield. Two daughters; Lynda A. Savrine and her husband Thomas of Rensselaer, NY and Betty Ann Martinez and her husband Jesse of North Adams. Ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother-in-law; Norman Daigneault and her two sisters-in-law; Lorraine Smith and Elaine Smith. She was predeceased by two grandchildren; Thomas Perrea Jr. and Justin Savrine. She was also predeceased by her sister; Laurel Daigneault and by her three brothers; Vernon, Royal and Carlisle Smith. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Avis H. Perrea, 95, of Pittsfield who passed away March 23, 2017 will be held Tuesday at 10:45 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Avis may be made to St. Charles Church or to Hospice Care of Western Massachusetts both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
