Obituary for Attorney Donald J. Brennan

Attorney Donald J. Brennan of Dalton died on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the
age of 90.
The son of the late Margaret Shean and Harry T. Brennan, Don was born in Pittsfield on February 22, 1924. After graduating from Dalton High School and Deerfield Academy, he served in the U.S Army as a 1st Lieutenant during
World War II. Following his return, he graduated from the University of \
Massachusetts in 1949 where he was a starting guard on the basketball team and
then Georgetown University Law School in 1951, where he was a member of Law Review.
He returned to Pittsfield and joined William F. Henderson in the practice of
law. They were later joined by Edwin E. Reder to form Henderson, Brennan
and Reder. Among his many community and civic interests, Don served as Chairman of
the Board of Trustees of the Zenas Crane Fund for Student Aid; was a
longtime member of the Dalton School Committee; served on the Board of
Directors of the First Agricultural Bank of Dalton, and was a past president
and longtime member of Wahconah Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Mary
Miller, his sons; Attorney Paul F. Brennan of Windsor and Attorney Mark T. Brennan Sr. and his wife Joan of Pittsfield, his daughter
Mary M. Caron of Washington, DC, and his daughter-in- law; Margaret "Peggy" Brennan of Dalton. Six grandchildren; Matthew C. Brennan, Daniel C. Brennan, Mark T. Brennan Jr., Attorney Katherine E. Brennan, Patrick E. Brennan, and Sarah J. Brennan, and his four great-grandchildren;
Keira Brennan, James Brennan, Mark T. Brennan III,
and Alyssa N. Brennan. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son; the late James J. Brennan, a brother John "Jake"
Brennan, his sister, the late Eileen B. Pratt and his son-in-law, James A. Caron.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Attorney Donald J.
Brennan of Dalton who died February 9, 2015 will be held Friday at 10:00
AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael
Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph Church. Burial will take place
in the spring in Ashuelot Cemetery. At Don's request there are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Don may be made to
Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to St. Agnes Church both in care of the
DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which
is handling arrangements.
