Obituary for Anthony Bernardo Carnevale

Anthony Bernardo Carnevale (Tony), 81, of Pittsfield passed away on October 18, 2023. Born in Pittsfield on April 13, 1942, he was the son of Anthony R. Carnevale and Elaine Carnevale (Koscher). Anthony attended Pittsfield High School before starting his long career as an electrician. He worked for several local electrical contractors throughout his career as well as General Electric where he enjoyed his work of over 10 years on the Bradley Fighting Vehicles (BFV). His work on BFV proudly took him all across the country working at many army bases.

Throughout his life Tony enjoyed various types of racing, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, canoes, and cars. For many years Tony enjoyed drag racing at Lebanon Valley Speedway where he also enjoyed watching his nephew and grandnephew race the same tracks. Tony loved being on the water; he had a love of sailing and water skiing when he was younger and later in life enjoyed captaining his pontoon boat on Onota Lake. In the winter he switched gears to downhill skiing both as an instructor and skier. Retirement brought a new batch of hobbies including motorcycle riding, gardening – particularly tomatoes, tracking and watching flights at the Pittsfield airport, and driving his prized Hotrod truck. Not as much a hobby, but possibly his greatest joy was spending time with wife and their dogs Brina, Emma, Darla, and Hailey.

Anthony is survived by his beloved wife Therese Carnevale (Kane) and would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this November. His is also survived by his son Stephen Carnevale and wife Laurie and granddaughter Alison of Naples, FL. His sister Jeanne Zdanis and husband Bruce of Pittsfield. His nephew Paul LaRochelle of Peru. His brothers in law Michael Kane (Marion VanArsdell) of Northampton, David Kane, and James Kane of Pittsfield. His nieces Meghan Kane (Justin Bousquet) of Bloomfield, CT, and Sarah Kane of Jacksonville, FL.

He is predeceased by his parents Anthony and Elaine, his grandson Kyle Carnevale, his great nephew Stephen LaRochelle, and his father and mother in-law Ronald and Catherine Kane.

A funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tony’s memory to the Berkshire Humane Society at www.berkshirehumane.org.
