Obituary for Ann E. Sturma

Pittsfield: Ann E. Sturma, 94, of 41 Stanley Avenue died Wednesday morning at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. Born on October 10, 1920 in Toronto, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Davina Leslie Wilson. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in California and Massachusetts schools. She was a homemaker for most of her life and had worked at one time as a department head at the former England Brothers Department Store. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She married her husband, the late Matthias J. Sturma on June 23, 1943.
He died on June 29, 1988. She leaves two sons; David P. Sturma and his wife Laurie of Pittsfield and Daniel M. Sturma and his wife Anne of Houston, TX. A daughter; Margaret "Peg" Brown of Memphis, TN and a sister; Lillian "Lil" Quinn of Pittsfield. She also leaves her six grandchildren; Brandon and Allison Sturma, Michael and Kyle Brown and Ryan and Kellie Sturma. Five great grandchildren; Kelsey, Stephanie, Zachary, Elliott and John David and two great great grandchildren; Katalina and Michael. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers; Matthew, Raymond and Verdun Wilson and by a sister; the late Rosamond Fontaine.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ann E. Sturma, 94, of Pittsfield who died October 22, 2014 will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at DERY FUNERAL HOME conducted by the Rev. Janet Deranian, pastor of United Methodist Church of Lenox. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
