Obituary for Ann Joan Schafer

Ms. Ann Joan Schafer, age 85 of Pittsfield, Ma. died March 4, 2015 at Sweet Brook Nursing home. Born on February 2, 1930 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts a daughter of the late Charles A. and Ann R. Brombach Schafer. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Pittsfield Secretarial School and also had attended Berkshire Community College. Ms. Schafer was employed for the former New England Telephone Company, now Verizon from 1949 until her retirement in 1984, as a managerial assistant. Ms. Schafer was the host of WBRK Bobby Kidney Sunshine Club radio program from July 7, 1956 until May 2006. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a member of the Bobby Kidney Sunshine Club, a communicant of Saint Joseph's Church and enjoyed animals and dogs, music and reading. She leaves a brother, Charles R. "Chuck" Schafer of Pittsfield, and her Cousin; Kathryn Goerlach of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held Friday March 6th at 2:30PM at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 222 Pecks Road, Pittsfield, Rev. Peter A. Gregory Pastor of St. Charles Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to The Berkshire Humane Society in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street.
