Obituary for Ann M. Moran

Ann M. Moran, 91, 0f 624 Elm St. Pittsfield died June 30, 2016 at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility from the blood disorder polycythemia. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lawrence, Mass on November 2, 1924, daughter of the late Jacob and Angelina Fiori.
She graduated from Saint Patrick High School in 1942 and then the Bishop Business School in Lawrence where she developed her secretarial skills.
In Lawrence, she worked at the Service Wood Heel Company as a payroll clerk before going to the Bolta Rubber Company where she was promoted to a credit analyst.
She met her husband, John E. Moran, then a quality control engineer, at a Bolta Rubber Company picnic. They were married at Saint Patrick Church in Lawrence on September 17, 1955.
When her husband left Lawrence to pursue a career with the General Electric Company, she accompanied him on his assignments to Lynn, Mass, Louisville, KY and finally Pittsfield where they set down roots.
She was a stay at home mom while her children were young. When she returned to work, she became the secretary of the audio-visual department of the Pittsfield School System where she remained for 17 years until her retirement in 1989.
She was a people person who enjoyed female conversation and activities. Her interests included cake decorating, ceramics, dancing, tennis, cross country skiing, shopping and traveling.
She traveled with her husband to many enjoyable destinations in the United States and around the world including Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Morocco, Russia and China.
She leaves her daughter, Joan Burr and her husband Thomas of Holden; son James Moran and his wife Suzanne of Belmont, Brother Augustine Fiori and his wife Lazarus of Lawrence, sister-in-law Lillian Fiori of Lawrence. She leaves several grandchildren; Alexandra and Jackson Moran of Belmont; David Burr of Worcester and Sarah Burr of Danbury, Conn. She was predeceased by her siblings; Seraphine Fiori, Louis Fiori (Edith), Josephine Hebb (Russell), sister-in-law Rosemary Fiori.

Funeral Notice – A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ann M. Moran, 91, who died June 30, 2016 will be Tuesday July 5th at 1p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm Street, Pittsfield, celebrated by Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, Parochial Vicar. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Tuesday July 5th from 11:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ann's memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
