Obituary for Ann H. Hutwelker

Ann H. Hutwelker, 83, a former resident of Dalton, MA, for 55 years, died August 31st, at her home at 2791 Oxford Lane, Mt. Dora, FL, after a courageous 17 year battle with brain cancer.
Born in New York City, on January 17, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Euphemia Grace Flynn, Ann came to Pittsfield as an infant and was raised by her grandmother, Lizzie Maud Cooke. Ann was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended Berkshire Community College.
Upon graduating high school, Ann was employed by Berkshire Life as a typist and later as a steno-typist at GE Power Transformer. After raising her five children, Ann returned to the workforce as the secretary of St. Agnes School in Dalton for 12 years, retiring in 1994.
Ann was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Dalton where she proudly sang in the church choir and was an active volunteer for many years. Previously, she was a member of the Pilgrim Memorial Church in Pittsfield, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter T.
Ann cherished her family and her faith was extremely important to her. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and camping.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Walter W. Hutwelker, Jr., who she married on October 3rd, 1953 at St. Mary's, The Morning Star Church in Pittsfield.
Ann is also survived by four sons; W. William III and his wife Cherie of Swanzey, NH; Robert and his wife Susan of Manchester, CT; Richard and his wife Kathy of Apopka, FL; and Michael and his wife Amanda of Sanford, FL.
She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Kathryn, who passed away on January 22nd, 1998.
Ann also leaves her beloved grandchildren Jessica, William, Ashleigh, Heather, Jonathan, Christopher, Dalton and Sawyer; a great grandson, Kaden, and was expecting a great granddaughter in January of 2014.
Ann is also survived by her brother, George Henderson of Pittsfield, and brothers-in-law Donald Hutwelker of Palm Harbor, FL, and John and Mary Beth Hutwelker of Troy, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Ann H. Hutwelker will be held on Thursday, September 5th at 10:30am at the First Congregational Church of Dalton with Rev. Dr. Alexander W. Hunter, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 4th from 4:00-7:00pm at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated and caring workers at Cornerstone for the love, comfort and compassion they gave Ann and the family over the past three years. The DERY-FOLY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA, is in charge of arrangements.
