Obituary for Ann T. Betit

Ann T. Betit, 86, of 95 Sunnyside Drive in Dalton died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Craneville Place of Dalton where she had resided for the past few weeks. Born in Pittsfield on March 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie Donovan Callahan. A longtime Dalton resident, she was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School in Pittsfield. She then went on to earn her nursing degree in 1949 from the St. Luke's School of Nursing. She married her husband, the late Robert L. Betit on June 23, 1951 at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. He died on September 24, 2011. A homemaker, Ann had worked for several years as a registered nurse at the former St. Luke's Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of the St. Luke's Nurses Alumni Association.
She enjoyed knitting, embroidery and working in her yard. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends. She leaves two daughters; Katherine A. Hoag and her husband Andress of Dalton and Margaret M. Brennan of Dalton. Two sons; Lawrence A. Betit and his wife Sherry of Dalton and Thomas J. Betit and his wife Christine of Dalton. She also leaves her eight grandchildren; Brenton Hoag, Anna Drake, Matthew Brennan, Daniel Brennan, Liam Betit, Kyle Betit, Aiden Betit and Karen Betit and her four great grandchildren; Carter, Keira, Delaney and James.
She was predeceased by a son; Robert G. Betit and by her son-in-law; James J. Brennan.
She was also predeceased by her three brothers; John, George and William Callahan.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ann T. Betit of Dalton who died February 6, 2015 will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Ann may be made to St. Agnes Church or to the Sisters of Providence both in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226 which is handling arrangements.
