Obituary for Angelo E. "Buzz" Buzzanco

Angelo E. "Buzz" Buzzanco, 85, of 175 Partridge Road, Pittsfield, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 25, 1927 in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Laborio and Laboria Pero Buzzanco. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in 1945. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947and then went on to serve his community as a firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department from 1957 until his retirement in 1991. Prior to his service as a firefighter he was employed at Berkshire Auto. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a member of the Itam Lodge #564, the Italian American Club and the Pittsfield American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed golfing at Skyline Country Club and hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was also known as an all-around Mr. Fix It. One of his great joys was following his grandchildren's sporting and school events. He leaves his wife; the former Josephine N. Cardella of Pittsfield. His daughter; Nancy A. Weber and her husband Michael of Pittsfield. His son; Angelo S. Buzzanco of Pittsfield and two step-sons; Raymond S. Pierson and his wife Nancy of Ojai, CA and Mark A. Pierson and his wife Juraye of Pittsfield. Nine grandchildren; Michael Weber and his wife Tina of Pittsfield, Stefanie L. Weber of West Stockbridge, Andrew C. Buzzanco of Florida, Haley B. Pierson of Easthampton, Jaryn K. Pierson of Austin, TX, Katrina S. Pierson and Natalie S. Pierson of Ojai, CA, Rayelle E. Pierson of Pittsfield and Ryan S. Pierson of Ojai, CA. Four great grandchildren; Nicholas, Alexander, and Carson Weber of Pittsfield and Josh Griffin of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by his first wife, the late Antoinette Capitani Buzzanco who died May 13, 1985. A brother; the late Anthony Buzzanco and by two sisters; the late Jennie Kulesa and the late Mary Maffuccio. He was also predeceased by his nephew; Benjamin Kulesa and by his niece; Joan Almori.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services with Military and Fire Department honors for Angelo E. "Buzz" Buzzanco who died February 8, 2013 will be held Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of "Buzz" may be made to St. Charles Church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
