Obituary for Andrea O. Sadowy

ANDREA O. SADOWY, 44, of 1883 Route 32 North, Ganesvoort, New York died Tuesday, December 19th, at Saratoga Springs Hospital, in Saratoga Springs, New York after a short battle with lung cancer. Prior to moving to Ganesvoort two years ago, she had resided in Wingdale, New York, for 15 years.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 22, 1962, she was a daughter of Andrew Sadowy of Pittsfield, MA and the late Gerda Pleiter Sadowy, she was educated in Pittsfield, MA schools and was a 1980 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady, New York. Miss Sadowy was employed as a Correction Officer for the State of New York
for the past seventeen years. She began her career with Greenhaven Correctional
Facility in Stormville, New York, where she worked from 1989 to 1998. At the time of
her death, she was with the Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, New York.
She had also served as a union steward for the Correction Officer's Union in New York while at the Greenhaven Correctional Facility. Miss Sadowy had a great love for animals. She enjoyed her friends, traveling, and jet skiing. Besides her father of Pittsfield, MA , Miss Sadowy leaves a brother, Myron H. Sadowy of Pittsfield, MA and a sister, Nancy A. Pleiter-Sadowy of Arundel, Maine.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for ANDREA O. SADOWY, 44, who died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 will be held Saturday, December 23, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church, 89 Briggs Avenue, Pittsfield, MA celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA . In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Miss Sadowy may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Miss Sadowy, who is remembered as a giving person, also leaves her nephew, Anthony Sadowy, her great niece, Britian Sadowy, her sister-in-law, Deborah Sadowy, and her longtime friend, Kathy Vinette-Tierney.
