Obituary for Andre V.R. Ortiz

Andre Victor Ryan Ortiz, 26, of 17 Wendell Avenue Ext., Pittsfield, died Thursday, March 27,
2014, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on September 11, 1987, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 2006
graduate of Taconic High School.
Mr. Ortiz was last employed as a food preparation worker at the Kripalu Center in Lenox for three months. He had been kitchen manager and cook at the Nook &Cranny restaurant in Pittsfield, and prior to that, had been employed in the kitchen at Berkshire Medical Center.
Andre loved life itself. He especially liked comedy. He enjoyed sports and was a New England
Patriots and Boston Celtics fan. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Andre leaves his mother, Valerie Wilson Pettus of Pittsfield; a sister, Ashlee L. Logan and her
husband, Jay Hamling of Pittsfield; his maternal grandmother, Evelyn F. West of Great Barrington;
his step grandfather, Edgar J. West of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his step father, Douglas Pettus of Pittsfield;
an aunt, Stacie D. West of Great Barrington; his fiancée, Amanda R. Donahue of Pittsfield; and two
nephews, Cubby and Jayden, and his beloved dog, Chainz.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Sylvester Taylor and a sister, Aisha L.D. Wilson.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Andrea Victor Ryan Ortiz will be held Friday, April 4, at 11:00 a.m., at DERY
FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish—
BERKSHIRE In care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
