Obituary for Alphonse Anthony "Pete" Gratton

Alphonse Anthony "Pete" Gratton, 81, of 20 Country Road, Hinsdale, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his home.
Born in Hinsdale on September 12, 1933, the son of Anthony and Rose A. Garant Gratton, he attended Notre Dame Grammar School and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Continuing his education, he earned an associates degree in business from Albany
Business School. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Gratton enlisted with the United States Navy on January
3, 1955, served aboard the USS Saratoga, overseas for sixteen months, and was honorably discharged on December 18, 1958.
Mr. Gratton was employed by General Electric Company for fifteen years until becoming
injured on the job. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where he was a lector and eucharistic minister. He had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church where he had been active, as well.
Mr. Gratton's wife, the former Bertha E. Gary, died March 4, 2008.
He is survived by six sons, Mark A. Gratton and his fiancée, Sharon Cross, of Pittsfield,
Bruce E. Gratton of New York state; David C. Gratton and his wife, Linda, of Pittsfield, Lance E.
Gratton and his wife, Tina, of Pittsfield, Dale A. Gratton and his wife, Maureen, of Pittsfield; and
Peter J. Gratton and his wife, Elaine, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Dawn M. Gratton Perotti Matthews of Pittsfield; and eighteen grandchilden and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Gratton was pre-deceased by a brother, Stephen Gratton, and three sisters, Jeannine Macchi, Martina LeVardi, and Joan Gratton.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Alphonse Anthony "Pete" Gratton will be held Saturday, May 2, at
10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor of St. Agnes Church. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in
Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society
In care of the Funeral Home 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
