Obituary for Alison A. Voelker

ALISON AYER VOELKER, born June 2, 1934, died peacefully on Tuesday,October 28th, while surrounded in the love of her family.
Although Alison was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, her heart never left
the shores of Marblehead, Massachusetts, where she grew up as a child. After
graduating from Marblehead High in 1952, she pursued a career in nursing and became
an R.N. Alison was a natural in this field due to her God-given gift of always helping
others in need. This combined with her sense of humor made her a wonderful R.N.
to work with and be cared by.
Alison married her husband of 50 years, Larry L. Voelker, on January 19, 1958.
She settled in Pittsfield with her husband in 1959 Alison's spirit would light up any room she entered. Her laughter and smiles
were contagious. When she traveled, she would always run into someone that knew
and remembered her. She was a professional "multi-tasker" when raising her four children, Gayle of
Fayston, Vermont, Craig of Moorestown, New Jersey, Eric of Lakewood, Colorado, and
Heidi of Park City, Utah. Her four children and six grandchildren gave her the greatest
joy in her life. Her husband, Larry, as well as her sister, Jane Clay of Rohnert Park, California, and her brother, Benjamin Ayer of Marblehead, Massachusetts, also survive Alison. She is pre-deceased by brother, John Ayer of Cazenovia, New York.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 4, from 3:00 to5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 67 East Street, Pittsfield. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Hannah P. Anderson, Rector, officiating.
