Obituary for Alfred J. Rolland

ALFRED J. ROLLAND, 85, of Dean Street, Cheshire, died Sunday, August 17,at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Adams, March 20, 1923, the son of Alfred and Eva Herzog Rolland, he
was educated in Adams schools.
A World War II veteran, he served with the United States Navy from November
10, 1944, to April 15, 1946. He was a Motor Machinist Mate, 3rd Class with Logistics
Support Company No. 58, and saw battle in Okinawa. He was awarded the WWII
Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal.He had been self-employed and had worked as an assembler at General Electric Company from where he retired with 18 years service.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Cheshire and was an acolyte at the Church. He was a member of the General Electric Pensioners Club and
the Cheshire Senior Center.
Al enjoyed a long family-filled life. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Gloria George Rolland; two sons, David A. Rolland of Pittsfield and Clark Rolland of Stuyvesant, New York; two daughters, Carol A. Rolland of Pittsfield and Barbara J.
Halek of Cheshire; a brother, Bernard Rolland of Adams; five grandchildren, Timothy
Szczepaniak, Thomas Szczepaniak, Heather Rolland, Samantha Halek, and Jeremy Halek, and two step grandchildren, Robyn Cross and Adam Cross, and two daughters-in-
law, Patricia Rolland of Stuyvesant, New York, and Anne C. Rolland of Pittsfield. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Francis Rolland.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for ALFRED J. ROLLAND, who died Sunday, August 17, will
Be Thursday, August 21, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with
A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery,
Adams. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Rolland may be made to the Cheshire
Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
