Obituary for Alfred A. Monti

Alfred Augustine Monti, 87, of 99 Jason Street, Pittsfield, died Monday, May 19 2014, at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on May 11, 1927, the son of Peter and Rovestina Ricci Monti, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
Mr. Monti was employed by General Electric Company where he was a Dispatcher in its Ordnance Systems Division and in its Power Transformer Department. He retired in 1987 with 40 years
service.
He was a member of I.U.E. Local 254 and was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century
and Pensioners Clubs.
He enjoyed playing golf, especially at Bass Ridge in Hinsdale, and was a New York Yankees fan.
He also enjoyed working in his yard.
Mr. Monti leaves his wife, the former Martha J. Tierney, whom he married April 20, 1979, in St.
Stephen's Episcopal Church.
He is also survived by a son, Alfred P. Monti, of Lenox; two daughters, Linda MacDonald of
Pittsfield, and Joanne Campbell of Cupertino, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Christine LaJoie of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Michelle LaJoie of Pittsfield; a brother, Carmine Monti of Pittsfield and Atlanta, Ga.; a sister,
Mary Bordeau of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Richard Monti, Peter Monti, and Ettore "Art" Monti.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Alfred Augustine Monti will be held Saturday, May 24, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church
celebrated by Rev. Michael C. Lillpopp, Parochial Vicar. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc., all in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
