Obituary for Alfred J. Cote

Alfred J. Cote, 96, of Pittsfield died in his home surrounded by his family on February 11, 2022.

He was born and raised in Pittsfield, graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1943. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corp where he served in the Okinawa Campaign during WWII until 1946. Upon returning home, he attended the Maryknoll Foreign Missionary Society, until he started his career at General Electric. In 1956 he married his late wife, Jeanne Mangum. While they were raising their six kids, Al graduated from Western New England College with a degree in Engineering and Management. He was an active member of Notre Dame Church where he participated as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, and choir member while also overseeing the Bingo program, Catholic Charities, and annual Church festival. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting, napping, and watching movies. But his greatest love of all was gathering with loved ones around what he termed the "Three P's": pool, patio, and pit (fire pit).

He leaves his six children: Paul and wife Kathy, Anne, Kathy and husband Max, Pete and wife Deb, Christine, and Micke and wife Donna. Seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Breanne, Christopher/Quit, Dakota, Austin, Evan and Taylor- who all called him "Grampy". He also was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Dina and his seven siblings: George, Adele, Julie, Ollie, Tess, Cecile, and Abbie.

Godspeed. Semper Fi. Je t'aime pour toujours.
