Obituary for George W Wilson

George W  Wilson
George William Wilson, Jr. 78 of 63 Quirico Drive, Pittsfield, MA, passed away March 7, 2018 at home.

He was born August 24, 1939 in Adams, MA to the late Roma Herzog and George William Wilson, Sr. George graduated from Adams High School in 1957 and then from North Adams State College, first with his Bachelors Degree in Education in 1961 and then his Master's Degree in Education in 1967. He married the late Catherine M. White April 18, 1964 and was predeceased by her on October 8, 2000.

Mr. Wilson was the former Vice Principal of Pittsfield High School from 1974 to 2000. He was the Summer School Principal for Pittsfield High in 1974. Prior to that, he was a Chairman of the History Department at Taconic High School from 1970 to 1974 and was a teacher of History at Taconic High School from 1969 to 1970.

George was a member and former President of the Springside Greenhouse Group. He was also on the St. Theresa’s Finance and Administration Council, and was a Life Member of the Massachusetts Teacher Association and the National Education Association.

Mr. Wilson leaves behind his son Jeffrey A. Wilson, his significant other Judybeth Crowell, of Pittsfield; a daughter Lori A. Rohde of Pittsfield; a brother Charles A. Wilson and his wife Beverly of North Adams, MA; his sister-in-law Anne Bone and husband David of Stockbridge, MA; sister-in-law Regina M. White of Dalton; his significant other Mary Ann Minella, of Dalton and his honorary grandson, Jack Minella.

Besides his wife, Catherine, he was predeceased by his sister Katherine and his brother-in-law William J. White, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for George William Wilson will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 9:00am at Dery Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich officiating. Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice Care in The Berkshires or BMC Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
