Obituary for Joseph H. Bosworth

Joseph H. Bosworth, 75, of 92 Riverview Drive in Dalton, Massachusetts passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at home. Born on October 18, 1941 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry Bosworth and Edith Moore Bosworth. He was educated in Philadelphia public schools and was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Philly. Joe attended the U.S. Naval Preparatory School, Bainbridge (College Prep – NESEP Program) in 1960 and the Pennsylvania State University, State College for Mathematics from 1961 to 1962. He also attended Drexel University for Mathematics from 1964 to 1966. Joe lived in the Philadelphia area until 1979 when he moved to Colorado. He lived in the Denver area and the surrounding mountains until 1996.
Joe was the President and founder of the first company to mass produce intelligent robots (RB5X). He was the CEO of RB Robot Corporation from May 1982 to June 1985. He was the owner of Robot Sciences Corporation beginning in 1985. Joe was the Senior Database and Data Warehouse Architect, Designer, Developer (Consultant) with SRI Consulting from January 1986 to March 2013. He was also the CEO of Smart Robots, Inc. from December 2002 to April 2014 and the Volunteer Chairman of the 2013-14 NESEA Student Design Competition. Joe was the Director and CEO of The Holyoke Design Center (HDC), Inc. beginning in January 2015. He was certified in NZE+/ZCE Design and Development via HeatSpring by completing a Professional Continuing Education NESEA BuildingEnergy Masters Series: Deep Energy Retrofits by Marc Rosenbaum in 2015. Joe was the Managing Partner for Westbrook Farm and Team Lead for Cascade Woods. He never retired.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Arlena, his three children from a previous marriage: Daniel Bosworth (Bonnie), Karin Bosworth (Nickolas) and Theodore Bosworth (Marie), and his two sisters Barbara Schmitt and Connie Contino (Fred). His older brother Paul Bosworth passed away in 2003. Joe had five grandchildren and one great-grand child. He also leaves behind many cousins, extended family and friends. Joe had six nephews: Craig Bosworth (Jen), Scott Bosworth (Peggy), Timothy Bosworth (Liz), Michael Bosworth (Kim), Paul Contino and Brian Contino and two nieces, Christine Oviedo (Henry) and Marie Richter.
